John Eric Burger

Eric was born March 8, 1967, in Mariemont, Ohio to Paul and Vera Burger. He was welcomed home by older brothers Vaughn and Dave (Pam) and Sister Lisa (Bob).   Eric spent most of his school years in Madeira, a community he always held very dear to his heart. In high school he played Varsity soccer and basketball, he was also a kicker for the football team. He went on to play soccer at Heidelburg and The University of Cincinnati.  After college he decided to start a landscaping business, which he ran for many years. Soon after starting the business, he met Kathy. They married six months later, and he gained an instant family in Kathy's children Keith and Jennifer, whom he grew to love as his very own. A few years later they welcomed a child, Karlie. The family continued to grow to include two sons in law Kenny and Koby and a daughter in law Sara. Eight grandchildren Megan, Chase, Noah, Kyle, Emma, Andrew, Matthew, and Kate.

Eric never lost his love for sports. After his days on the court/ field as a player he went on to coach both soccer and basketball at Madeira and Amelia High Schools. This was his greatest joy. He was a passionate coach and often had disagreements with the referees. So, it was suggested to him that he may want to become one, he did just that so he could get a total understanding of the game. He became a referee for both sports, which he did in Ohio and Kentucky. This is where he made some of his dearest friends. In recent years Eric was blessed to work for Macy's Corporate in billing and disputes. They were so caring, compassionate, and understanding of the many medical issues he faced during his time there.

Eric is preceded in death by his Father Paul, His mother Vera, brother Dave, and father-in-law Gary

His wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and coworkers will miss his bright smile and loving nature. Rest in peace Eric you will be missed by many.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Miamitown Church of Christ, 6670 OH-128, Miamitown, Ohio 45041.  The memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m.
