John Robert Bernard 75, was born on September 6, 1939 to the late Robert and Annie Bernard in Glad Hills, Virginia. He entered into eternal peace on the morning of August 21, 2015 at 10:20am. He was surrounded by his family at Jewish Hospital. John grew up in Virginia until the early 1950's. John then moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. There he met, fell in love, and married Carolyn A. Jordan. To this union they were blessed with one daughter, Veronica Lynn Bernard, whom he cherished. John worked at Royal Crown Industries in Cincinnati until choosing to move on. He then worked at Hudepohl Brewing Company. Deciding to move on to even bigger opportunities, John went to work for the Milacron Company. He retired from this company after working for over 30 years. John took pride in his work and became an example to other employees. He maintained perfect attendance and no lateness' his entire time there. John enjoyed sports. He was a dedicated Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan that is until they were losing. He also loved bowling and participated in several leagues. He won many championships and had the trophies to prove it. John accepted the Lord as his savior and was baptized on April 20, 1986 at New Jerusalem Apostolic Faith Church. He loved reading and studying his Bible. He later joined "From the Heart Ministries" and was an active member until his passing. John was extremely loving and proud of his grandchildren and they shared a shared a special bond. He loved them unconditionally and was there to give support and encourage whenever possible. He was their "pawpaw John". John loved being around family and looked forward to spending holidays and birthdays with them. John was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Annie Bernard, brother's Christopher Bernard and James Russell Bernard and nephew Earl Henderson Nelson. Leaving to celebrate his life and legacy and cherish his memory is his daughter Veronica Lynn Davis (Ray), granddaughter Mercedes R. Harvey (Mike), grandson Kelley C. Davis (Sydney), two sisters Annie Nelson (Earl) and Sallie Newbill. Nieces: Anette, Pam, Lynn, Lisa, Susan and Sarah. Nephews: Wayne, Larry, and Robert. Great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of family and friends. Sleep softly daddy, rest in peace. This is not an ending but this is actually the beginning of your new life. This is not death but this is your birth into eternity. You will always be in our thoughts and hearts and we will always long for the time that we will be together again. Love you forever and always Ronnie. Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Monday, August 31, 2015, at the Walker - Mt. Healthy Chapel , 7272 Hamilton Avenue , Cincinnati (45231). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Interment is in Spring Grove Cemetery at Cincinnati, Ohio.
