Jesse Philip Butler, Sr. Jesse Philip Butler, Sr. was born on April 11, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the fifth of eleven children born to the late Eugene and Jessie Butler. His soul transitioned from its earthly existence on June 7,2014 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. During his youth, Phll, as he was called by many, was member if the First Baptist Church of West College Hill. He attended the Steele Elementary School and the North College Hill Junior and Senior High Schools. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and received an Honorable Discharge. Phil worked for the Lunkenheimer/Cincinnati Valve Company and as Commissary Manager for Sixty Second Shops. He retired as a truck driver for C. Eberle Sons Company. He was a member of the Eagles Social Club. He loved Jazz music, was a talented saxophonist and played in a band. After retirement he developed a passion for golf. He enjoyed sports and faithfully followed the Reds and the Bengals. Phil also enjoyed watching Gospel music pro.grams on television. On July 8, 1944, Phil was united in Holy Matrimony to Betty Jane Price. Four children; Jesse Jr., Reginald, Gilbert and Vicki were born to this union. Phil was preceded in death by his wife Betty; eldest son, Jesse Jr. (Sugar); father, Eugene Sr.; mother, Jessie; five sisters, Clara. Cumberlander, Martha West, Monie Price, Grace Nash, and Alberta Murrell; four brothers, Eugene Jr., William, Richard and Theodore. He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Reginald (Diane) of Suffolk, Virginia; Gilbert (Mary) of Van Wert, Ohio; one daughter, Vicki of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven grandchildren; Iman, Kamari, Lauren, Lyndsey, Cebron (CB), Philip and Christopher; six great-grandchildren, Jordan, Andrew, Zachary, Claire, Drew, and Alden; one brother Dwight (Rodi): two brothers-in-law, Andrew Price,Wesley (Yvonne) Price; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Butler and Willa Mae Butler; and many nieces, nephews, other relative and friend. Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Second Baptist Church College Hill, 6225 Betts Avenue, Cincinnati (45224) with visitation from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm.
