Jerry R. Styons March 8, 1951 - October 23, 2022

Jerry Ray Styons went to be with the Lord on October 23, 2022 at the age of 71. He was surrounded by his family in Harrison, Ohio. Jerry was preceded in death by both parents, Cecil and Grace Styons. Jerry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Wanda Styons; brother Cecil (Cathy) Styons; son Jason (Trina) Styons; daughters Kelly (Larry) Brokamp and Michele (Andrew) Cordes. Jerry was a Papaw to seven grandchildren: Victoria, Ella, Joseph, Kate, Andrew, Alexi and Aiden; and one great-grandchild on the way. He is also survived by many friends and family that stretches from North Carolina, Florida to Kansas.

He was born in Plymouth, North Carolina on March 8, 1951. As a minister's son, they moved to Rising Sun, Indiana where he graduated high school in 1969. In 1971, he was drafted in the Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was fortune not to have seen "war" and said, "he was glad to dodge snowballs instead of bullets". After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Army, he moved to Florida and worked in construction. In 1978, he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and worked at Powell Valves where he met Wanda, and they were married on June 29, 1980. Later Jerry worked for Great Oaks, retired in 2017 as a Custodian. After retirement, he and Wanda traveled out West several times. They met several new friends along their journey.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Kidney Transplant Foundation in the name of a friend waiting for a kidney, Misty Pettit.

A service in Celebration of his Life will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at Riverview Crossing Clubhouse, 4900 Rivercrest Drive in Harrison, Ohio.
