Jean Carol (Mewborn) Jones was born on August 11, 1951 in Goldsboro, North Carolina to Katrina (Bryant) Favors and James Earl Mewborn, both deceased.  She departed her earthly journey on Friday, October 29, 2021.

Jean confirmed her hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at  New Hope Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend J. M. Stephens.  She was educated in the public school system of Cincinnati, Ohio.  Jean worked many jobs until she found her passion of care-giving for expectant mothers.  She worked as a scrub tech for over 30 years at Good Samaritan Hospital in the Labor and Delivery Department from which she retired in 2010.

After a long courtship, Jean married her 'better half', Albert H. Jones, on August 11, 1999.  They seemed inseparable—always seen together—always talking.  Jean especially loved her grandchildren.  She was not much for traveling but would plan to vacation in California to be with her son, Alphonso and his family.  One of her favorite past times was a challenging game of bid whist.  Jean enjoyed watching the cooking channel, ice skating and remained an avid Pittsburgh Steeler NFL fan.

Jean leaves cherished memories with her devoted husband, Albert.  Two sons:  Alphonso McGuire (Mari) of California; Edwin C. Houston (Makita) of Cincinnati.  Her sisters, Lisa F. Carson (Darnell); LaVerne Bryant (Lewis, deceased); Lisa Fiscus (James Mewborn Sinclair, deceased); brothers, Raymond Favors (Yvonne) of Virginia Beach, and Jerome A. Favors (Cincinnati); Eddie Harold Smith, Jr. (Beverly Jean)—both deceased. Four grandchildren (Aliyah Jaspreet, Jordan, Kayela and Nyla) a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gathering is from 10:00 am until 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at the Walker Funeral Home, 2625 Gilbert Avenue, Cincinnati (45206).   The memorial service will immediately follow the gathering beginning at 10:30 am.
