Obituary

Jay'Shawn J. Antionio Cornelius was born on April 30, 2008, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Brittany Garrett and Jason Cornelius. He unexpectedly departed this life on June 3, 2025.

Jay'Shawn was a joyful, loving child who brought laughter and happiness to everyone around him. He was especially adored by his parents and always found ways to brighten their days with his giggles and playful spirit.

He was a student at Hughes High School and was preparing to enter his junior year in the fall. Jay'Shawn was a bona fide sneakerhead, always dressed in the latest fashions and admired for his stylish sense. His vibrant personality made him the life of the party—he was a jokester, full of energy, and always smiling.

Jay'Shawn had a deep passion for cars, particularly muscle cars. He dreamed of becoming a certified mechanic after graduation, with ambitions of opening his own auto repair shop and becoming an entrepreneur.

One of Jay'Shawn's most admirable qualities was his protective nature. He took great pride in being a big brother to his younger siblings and looked after the children in his neighborhood like they were his own. As his brothers would say, "He was the BEST big brother, always playing outside with us no matter what."

Jay'Shawn was deeply loved by his family, friends, and school community. He was loyal, kind-hearted, and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by Glen Garrett and William Beatty.

Jay'Shawn leaves to cherish his memory: His loving mother, Brittany Garrett(Johnny White); his father, Jason Cornelius; his devoted siblings, Jamonte White, Eli White, and Mycki White; Jason Cornelius Jr. Zaire Cornelius, Jihan Cornelius, Adrianna Cornelius, Zaikeria Cornelius and Mason Cornelius; his grandparents, Nadine Montgomery and Cathey Cornelius; his great- grandparents, Grover Frazier and Stella Frazier; his aunt, Nadine Beatty; his uncles, Brandon Montgomery and Terry Cornelius; and his great-uncle, Grover Frazier Jr.

Jay'Shawn also leaves behind many other loving family members, friends, classmates, and neighbors who will forever cherish the special moments they shared with him.

Visitation is from 9:30 am until 11:00 am, on  Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Hughes STEM High School, 2515 Clifton Avenue , Cincinnati  (45219).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.

Jay'Shawn  will be laid to rest at Spring Grove Cemetery
