IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Leslie
Gregory
May 4, 1944 – August 25, 2022
James Leslie Gregory May 4, 1944 - August 25, 2022
A proud father, grandfather, and loving husband, James L. Gregory, 78, of Colerain Township in Cincinnati left this life on August 25, 2022. He was born on May 4, 1944 in Cincinnati, Ohio to LeRoy and Verna (Roll) Gregory who predeceased him.
James, known as fondly as Jim, graduated from Colerain High School in 1962. He proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1962-1966 aboard the USS Boston. His service included being aboard the USS Boston as flagship in the recovery effort of the Palomares Incident from February through April 1966. He enjoyed many tours of the Mediterranean. Jim's service created a life-long love of the water that lives on in his daughter.
Jim will be remembered for many things. He was an avid builder of model trains and airplanes and a meticulous keeper of his lawn. Jim was a life long Cincinnati Bengals fan and could be found every Sunday watching the game, grilling food and running his own commentary to whomever wanted to listen. Jim married the love of his life Mary in 1968. Together they had many adventures, including living in Michigan for over a decade, where he and his young family developed a love for winter sports.
He was preceded in death by his beautiful, loving and reliable wife Mary (nee Baitz) to whom he was married for 48 years. Together they shared and are survived by their daughter Krista Gregory (Seth Bender), their son Jason Gregory (Tracy Gregory) and 3 cherished grandchildren Justin Gregory, Cameron Gregory and Elka Bender.
There will be no service. Gifts in Jim and Mary's name can be made to the Humane Society. To share a memory of James or leave a special message for the Gregory family, please click the "Tribute Wall" tab above and to the right, enter the information, and click "Save Post."
