James
Elliott
November 26, 1944 — August 21, 2026
Cincinnati
**James Elliott**, affectionately known as “Ougie” passed away peacefully on the early morning of Friday, August 21, 2026. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 26, 1944, he lived a life defined by hard work, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to his family.
He was a man of integrity, deep committed to doing the right thing, even when it wasn’t the easiest path. Ougie was a consistent voice of encouragement, always pushing
Those around him to be their best and to stand tall in their values. His guidance, often shared with a steady hand and kind heart, left a lasting imprint on everyone who knew him.
James was a proud graduate of Lincoln Heights School and spent many years working at the Jim Bean Distillery until his well-earned retirement in 1989. Beyond his professional life, his heart was most at home with his family. He held a special, immeasurable love for his children and grandchildren, and he cherished every moment spent in their presence.
He accepted Christ as his savior at a young age and remained a faithful servant of the Lord throughout his life. A long member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church Lincoln Hights, he spent his final years a dedicated member of the Embassy Church, finding peace and strength in his faith community.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Donald Elliott, his son “Lil Jimmy” and his late wife Betty Jean Elliott.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted family, including his wife, Wanda Gover Elliott, his children Sharon Miller, Candice (Anshawn) Cottrell, Cortez Elliott, and Aniya Elliott, his step children, Delbart Stanford, Beverly Stanford, Benyamin Crossty and Keyanna Crossty; and his precious grandchildren Zavier Spearman, Shanice Miller, Amanda Stanford, Daejshi Crossty and Zhmarri Crossty. He also leaves behind five siblings, Vernell Elliott, Stevie Elliott, Randall Elliott, Carol Turner and Donna Elliott; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
While his family will miss his voice and gentle spirit, they take great comfort in knowing he is not longer in pain. His legacy lives on through every lesson he taught, every smile he shared, and the quiet steady strength he provided to his loved ones.
