Superintendent James Edmond Jr., born on May 1, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio, peacefully passed away on July 12, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late Mattie and James Edmond Sr., originally from Dublin, Georgia. James was preceded in death by his two older siblings, Herman Edmond and Inez Edmond.

At the age of 18, James proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served honorably for four years. In 1960, he married the love of his life, Sarah (McDougal) Edmond, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Together, they were blessed with four sons. He was preceded in death by his son Marcus G. Edmond and is survived by his sons Timothy W. Edmond, Cornelius T. Edmond, and Dartilous Edwards. His eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life.

James had a deep passion for music and spent countless hours playing the piano, filling his home with beautiful melodies. He also loved both watching and playing tennis. At 22 years old, James gave his life to the Lord, dedicating himself to a life of faith and service. He pastored under three esteemed bishops—Bishop R.S. Fields, Bishop Warren Miller, and Bishop David Harren in the Church of God in Christ. He retired from pastoring due to ill health in 2018 and started a home-based ministry to be a blessing to the community and the needy. He was a lifetime member of the Church of God in Christ.

James's life was a testament to faith, love, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his kindness and unwavering faith.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Walker Funeral Home - Walnut Hills Chapel, located at 2625 Gilbert Avenue, Cincinnati (45206). The funeral service will follow immediately at 11:00 AM, where friends and family will gather to share heartfelt memories, find comfort in one another's presence, and honor the extraordinary life of James Edmond Jr.

Following the service, interment will occur at Walnut Hills Cemetery, where we will pay our final respects.
