James W. Coleman Jr. was born December 25, 1950 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late James Coleman Sr. and Ada Mae Coleman. James graduated from Courter Technical High School in 1969. Thereafter, he enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Communication Specialist. He was stationed in California and Hawaii providing honorable service to our country until his discharge in 1973. He attended the University of Cincinnati and graduated with an associate degree in Business. James worked for the United States Postal Service where he met his soulmate Maggie in 1976. The following year they married June 11, 1977. From this union, three beloved daughters were born. James loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing trips, going to the horse track, watching westerns and Jeopardy. He also loved talking about history and solving crossword puzzles. He was a smart man with a sharp memory. Everywhere he went, no matter how many years had gone by, he would recognize and greet people he knew. He was also a member of Wesley Smith #107 Masonic Lodge. On Friday, November 11, 2016 (Veteran's Day) James was called home. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Maggie; son, Brian; daughters, Stephanie (Jermaine), Monique and Lisa; grandsons, Te'Aries, Brian Jr. and Jaden; sisters, Sharon Lumpkin and Paula Mitchell (Joseph); sister-in-law's, Lillie Turner, Minnie Jones, Sandra Hodge, Karen Hammond & Cynthia Taylor (Wayne); brother-in-law's, Gregory Ward, Ira Ward & Steven Ward. Two cousins whom he considered brothers, Larry Dean and Charles Lester. Very special friend and honorary mother Pauline Hamilton. Host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
