Ira J.
Horn
February 13, 1925 – May 2, 2015
Ira Horn Jr. was born in Birmingham, Alabama on February 13, 1924 to Ira Horn Sr. and Minnie Horn. He was the fourth born and only son of six siblings. He departed this life on May 2, 2015 to be with the Lord. A daughter Zenia Horn and three sisters preceded him in death. He was baptized under the pastorate of Rev. Maxie. He was a member of the Usher Board and a member of the Senior Choir. Ira served in the United States Army for ten years, and while there he enjoyed playing the trombone in the army's band. After leaving the army, he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to be near his sister, Lovie Lowe, now deceased, and met the love of his life, Elsie Price and from this union was born Zenia Horn and Ira Steven Horn. Ira worked at OPW for ten years. He also worked for Husmans Potato Chips Company eight years as a Security Guard. He loved fishing, jazz, traveling in his camper to various places, playing cards and entertaining his family and many friends especially in his home on the holidays. He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife of fifty-five years, Elsie; one son, Ira Steven of Cincinnati, OH; one grandson, Amar Pryor of Cincinnati, OH; one great-grandson Cason Ford of Cincinnati, OH; two sisters, Carrie Clark and Jimmie Lee McMurrian of Phoenix, AZ; a special niece, Alberta Haley of Cincinnati, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Friday, May 8, 2015, at the Corinthian Baptist Church - Whittier Street, 772 Whittier Street, Cincinnati (45229). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Pastor K. Z Smith will officiate. Interment is in Butler County Memorial Park at Hamilton, Ohio.
