IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Henry J.
Merriweather
November 23, 1941 – October 19, 2015
HENRY JARVIS MERRIWEATHER made his transition from this life on Monday, October 19, 2015. His final days were spent in the loving presence of his lifelong companion in the comfort of his own home. His tall and lean frame, infectious smile, and over the top personality captured the hearts of all who knew and loved him. To the neighborhood, he was affectionately known as…. "THE WEATHER MAN." To his immediate family, we lovingly referred to him as "Jarvie Poo," and to his extended family, he was dearly greeted as "Brother, Uncle, or Cousin." Our dear heart life of the party will truly be missed. Jarvis, the eldest of three siblings was born in Pelham Georgia to Willie and Christine Merriweather on November 23, 1941, both of whom has preceded him in death. He accepted Christ at an early age in membership to Summerhill Baptist Church, Pelham, Georgia. He graduated from Mitchell County high school in 1958 and continued his studies at Fort Valley AND Albany State Universities, respectively. As a young man, he endeavored in music and was part of a locally renowned band with his younger brother, Columbus called… the "Heart Breakers." He was briefly married to his young sweetheart and from this union his only biological daughter, Tammy Merriweather was born. She too has preceded him in death. Jarvis was called to duty for the United States Army in 1965 where he honorably served in the Vietnam War for 4 years. His valor and bravery earned him not one but "TWO" Purple Hearts! After an honorable discharge from the military, he and his life's love and companion relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio where he began his professional careers. He initially began with the United States Postal Service and after many years of exemplary service, his talents were served within the Cincinnati Professional Sports Services. Suffice it to say he loved himself some Cincinnati Reds baseball and thoroughly enjoyed his job!! Impeccable work ethics earned him employee of the year and many other accolades because he was NEVER late and never missed until involuntary retirement due to illness. He leaves to cherish his life companion of nearly 50 years, Lillie M. Collins, Cincinnati, Ohio. One surviving brother, Mr. Columbus W. Merriweather (Lena Merriweather), Columbus, Georgia. One raised step-daughter, Ms. Kathy Wilson, Atlanta, Georgia. Nieces, nephews, raised grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Monday, October 26, 2015, at the Walker- Walnut Hills Chapel, 1025 E. McMillan Street , Cincinnati (45206). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. You may express online condolences at www.HerbWalker.com. Walker Funeral Home of Cincinnati is serving the Merriweather family. ROAD TO ETERNITY LIFE IS BUT A STOPPING PLACE, A PAUSE IN WHAT'S TO BE, A RESTING PLACE ALONG THE ROAD, TO SWEET ETERNITY WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT JOURNEYS, DIFFERENT PATHS ALONG THE WAY, WE ALL WERE MEANT TO LEARN SOME THINGS, BUT NEVER MEANT TO STAY… OUR DESTINATION IS A PLACE, FAR GREATER THAN WE KNOW, FOR SOME THE JOURNEY'S QUICKER, FOR SOME, THE JOURNEY'S SLOW BUT WHEN THE JOURNEY FINALLY ENDS, WE'LL CLAIM A GREAT REWARD, AND FIND AN EVERLASTING PEACE, TOGETHER WITH THE LORD.
