Obituary

Henry Lee Grady was born on January 31, 1948, to Zion Grady and Lubertha Grady in Louisville, Mississippi. He was the fourth child of seven. When he was born, he was brought to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was raised by his grandmother. He attended Taft High School and later began working for Cincinnati Milacron.

He later met his wife, Glenda Fears, and they were joined together in holy matrimony in 1983. She had three sons—Phillip Kernall (deceased), Gervasie Kernall, and Brandon Fears—while he had three daughters—April Mooney, Tanya Smith, and Sharla Roberts.

Although he did not have a church home at that time, he believed in God.

Henry was a hardworking man. He worked every day and would not even call off work when he was sick. After Cincinnati Milacron closed, he worked at Frisch’s for a short time. He later left Frisch’s and worked for the City of Cincinnati and Washington Nursing Home, where he worked in housekeeping and laundry.

He was always full of joy. He laughed all the time and would give anyone his last if he had it. He was always feeding everybody. If he ate, he wanted everyone else to eat as well. He enjoyed watching the Bengals and the Reds play.

Later in life, Henry suffered a heart attack, which caused him to stop working, and he moved in with his daughter. As his health declined in 2023, he became a resident of Scarlet Oaks Nursing Home, where he received the care he needed. While there, he made friends with other residents and staff and played checkers every day.

Henry was called home and will be missed by many.

He leaves behind his three children, April Mooney, Tanya Smith, and Sharla Roberts (Charles Roberts, son-in-law); his three stepchildren, Phillip Kernall (deceased), Gervasie Kernall, and Brandon Fears; his grandchildren, Lacricia Durham, Stacey Burdine, Kennisha Mooney, Quan Collins (deceased), Queen Grady, Alexis Fain, Tonisha Fain, Niasha Hill, Jalonnie Hill, and Carmen Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
