IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen R.
(Haley) Wallace
May 2, 1932 – August 10, 2020
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Helen C. (Haley) Rhodes Wallace. Born May 2, 1932, in East Gulf, West Virginia to James and Alberta Haley. Helen and her brothers and sisters (lovingly referred to as the six-pack) were raised by their father after their mother's passing.
Helen attended public school in West Virginia at Byrd Prillerman and eventually moved to Cincinnati and worked at Children's Hospital and several other companies in Cincinnati.
Helen was married and had one daughter, Vicki, with her first husband, Robert. He is now deceased. She met her life companion, Bill in Cincinnati who was introduced to her by her brother, Clarence. After their marriage, they settled in the community of Bond Hill in Cincinnati.
While Bill pursued a career in welding, Helen pursued her career at Avon in Springdale, which she loved. She worked there until her retirement, which occurred a little early.
Helen's greatest achievement was her family – a mother to one child: Vicki (Bruce - divorced), and grandmother to Kurran (Keytsa) and Kenan (DeNica), great grandmother to Skyler, Uriel, Morgan, Uriah, Uelle, and Peyton. She was happiest when she was spending time with her family or helping others. She was kind, lots of fun, caring, and loving, but very strong and a force to be reckoned with when it came to her family.
Although Helen battled illnesses, she never lost her faith in God and family. She stayed strong. She ("passed away peacefully") surrounded by her family.
The calling hours will be at Southern Baptist Church in Cincinnati at Lexington & Reading Roads in Avondale from 10:00a to 11:00a on Saturday, August 14, 2020, provided by Walker Funeral Home and a funeral immediately following at 11:00a at the church. She will be interred at Landmark Memorial Cemetery in Cincinnati. Donations in her memory can be made to Epilepsy Foundation of Ohio or www.ohioepilepsy.org
