IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gwendolyn J.
Waller
July 3, 1957 – May 13, 2020
Gwendolyn J. Waller July 3,1957-May 13,2020 Lights, camera, action! Gwen made her grand entrance into this world on Wednesday, July 3, 1957 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the welcoming arms of proud parents Jerome Waller, Sr and Frances Lucille Waller (Montgomery). She was a bright and rising star from the start, commanding the room wherever she went. From her early days at Bibleway COGIC to her sun setting days at Clovernook Nursing Home, she enthusiastically let her light shine as the social butterfly she was. On any given Sunday, Gwen could be found leading the choir procession as they marched in. She could shout and praise you under the pews while playing her tambourine. Her gospel trained voice made its professional debut at the tender age of 14 when she boldly joined famed singer Gwen Conley from the audience at the Beverly Hills Supper Club and was then invited onstage. She was the talk of the town as she made the local newspaper the very next day. In turn, Ms. Conley mentored Gwen and introduced her to many celebrities, including Nancy Wilson. Later, if there was a local talent show or beauty pageant, Gwen was in it. Academically, Gwen attended Withrow High School. She was active in the University of Cincinnati's Upward Bound College Prep program and a spirited performer in the Sounds of Withrow onstage productions. She proudly graduated in June of 1976. Gwen did all of this as a teenage mother, welcoming Oneida Shantel in April 1973 and later, Tamara Racquel in 1976 after a brief union to Eugene Land. She loved her girls and did her best for them. She was a cook's cook and could throw down in the kitchen! Her dreams and aspirations were many as she pursued becoming a professional singer, an airline stewardess, a nurse and a midwife. In the end, she was all of those things as she could mesmerize you with her many stories as she made you believe all things are possible. Above all, she was our family's original Intercessor and loved family prayer calls. She was a warrior against many infirmities and fought a great fight. Gwen had a special love for "the least of these" and her many jobs included being a caregiver of the developmentally disabled and elderly. She even had a professional house management service as she loved to make a house a home. Gwen now has a new home. She was welcomed in the heavenly realm by her brother Romeo Montgomery(Kathleen) and parents, Jerome and Frances Lucille on May 13,2020, a Wednesday just as she had entered 62 years ago. She leaves to mourn her passing and celebrate her life: daughters, Oneida Holloman (Lafayette) and Tamara Waller; siblings Robert Montgomery (Rozeta), Angela Waller, Jerome Waller, Jr. (Elaine) and Donna Waller; her midwifed child, De'Aisha Waller (whom she assisted with the delivery). She was also that village parent to nieces and nephews: Marlon (Terri), Dion, Michelle, Frances (Richard), Denna, Jason, Darius, Jerome III, Don'na, DaVonna and Doria as well as her grandchildren Tyrah, Alecia, Lafayette Jr, Jeremiah, Asher, great grands, great nieces, cousins and nephews as well as her many friends and extended family from Clovernook. Rest well in your Father's arms as the apple of your Daddy's eye. Your legacy of hope continues. The family would like to thank each of you for your cards, gifts, kind words and prayers as we navigate through this difficult time.
