Gregory Gene
Ferguson
August 5, 1956 – March 28, 2026
Gregory “Greg” Gene Ferguson, entered eternal rest on Saturday, March 28th, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Affectionately known to all who loved him as “Choo-Choo,” he was the eighth of nine children, born on August 5th, 1956, to the late Anna Elizabeth (Wallace) and Wylie Ferguson Sr.
Greg was a man of great intellect and commitment, graduating in the top ten percent of his class from Withrow High School in 1974, where he also participated on the chess team. His pursuit of knowledge and dedication to hard work led him to earn an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Studies from ITT Technical Institute in Dayton, Ohio. Later in life, he answered a spiritual calling, studying at Temple Bible College in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he earned a Theology Degree and became an ordained Minister.
Singing with the family choir, Philemon and with the Bethel Baptist Church Choir, he always put the Lord first. It was there where he felt a spiritual calling on his life to go into ministry. Devoting his time to studying and spreading the Word, he served as a minister at several churches in the city. His study was filled with Biblical books, sermons, and songs. A song he would frequently sing was "Precious Lord."
He dedicated a significant portion of his life, over twenty years, to the service of American Alarm Company (Honeywell). Following this lengthy career, Greg transitioned to Ford Motor Company, where he maintained his exceptional work ethic. He continued his professional journey with the automotive giant for twenty two years before finally retiring in 2022, marking the end of a long and industrious career spanning over four decades. Greg exemplified the definition of a dedicated and tirelessly hard worker throughout his career.
In 2003, he married Kim. Throughout their marriage, the two took countless memorable trips together, exploring new places and creating a wealth of cherished memories. Their relationship was characterized by an unmistakable love and devotion, a foundation of unwavering support and mutual respect that enriched both their lives. Their shared life spanned twenty three wonderful years.
He loved to swim, serving as a lifeguard, and teaching many family members how to swim. Greg enjoyed listening to jazz music while sitting on his deck or grilling out. He enjoyed playing chess, checkers and cards. He loved football. Saturdays he could be found watching his Buckeyes and cheering on the Cowboys and Chiefs on Sundays. Above all, he loved his family, especially his granddaughter, Victoria, for whom he would be at every event. When he was with her, he was truly “Living his best life.” (Lil Duval)
Greg was a man defined by profound dedication and an unwavering, tireless commitment to all aspects of his life. He possessed a truly generous spirit, consistently offering his time, resources, and warmth to anyone in need. Yet, for all his professional drive, his deepest devotion was reserved for his family. He was a loving family man, fulfilling the roles of husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather with an all-encompassing love and fidelity that was the cornerstone of their lives. His presence was a source of steadfast support, wisdom, and unconditional love for his entire family.
He possessed a truly generous spirit, always ensuring others were taken care of in every situation without ever needing to be asked. His kindness was genuine and heartfelt; he never had to be prompted to help, as it came naturally from the heart.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents Anna Elizabeth and Wylie Ferguson Sr., his brothers Wylie Ferguson III and Joey Allen Ferguson, and his sister Beverly Curtis.
He leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories with his wife, Kim Ferguson; his daughter, Constance “Connie”; his bonus daughters, Katrice “Tricey” and Kandice; and his granddaughter, Victoria. He is also survived by his loving sisters Barbara Ferguson, Juanita Crosswhite (Robert), and Geraldine Johnson; his brothers Kenneth and Reginald; brothers in law, Michael Broach (Denise) and Mark Broach; along with a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, extended family and friends who will forever miss their “Choo-Choo”.
