Glondora Hairston Moore was born June 11, 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the only daughter of the late John Hairston and Bernice Smith. She departed this earth on December 18, 2025. Glondora accepted the Lord at an early age. She grew up in Cincinnati's West end community and graduated from the Old Woodward High School.
On May 23, 1953 she married the love of her life Shelby Everett Moore, a union that lasted 53 years until his passing. From this blessed union came five children. In 1962 the family became members of Zion Baptist Church. As a devoted member of Zion, Glondora served faithfully in the Senior Choir, the Chorale Ensemble, and the Missionary Society.
Determined and hardworking, she attended night classes at the University of Cincinnati earning a certificate in Accounting and Federal Income Taxation while working at the Internal Revenue Service. She also served with distinction as Worthy Matron of Golden Link # 91 of SINAl the Order of the Eastern Stars as well as a member of Imperial Court # 35 and the Doves Ensemble. Besides being involved in various organizations Glondora was a gifted seamstress. Her talents allowed her to produce wedding dresses for two of her daughters. She also made clothing for other family members and friends. After retiring from the IRS she worked part time as a seamstress at Dillards Department store. In addition to Dillards she worked briefly with Ride-Right & Peterson Transport.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby Everett Moore, Sr.; her son Shelby Everett Moore, Jr., and son in-law Dr. Richard Rhodes. Sister-in-law Catherine Moore, three brother's in-law Rev. William Freeman (Leona) George Moore (Alma) John Moore and a nephew George Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories and celebrate her life with 4 children and (spouses): Gwendolyn C. Rhodes, Bernetta M. (Gene) McMillan, Denise J. Graham, and Rodney W. Moore. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren: Eric Robinson, Morey (Stephanie) Robinson, Jua McMillan, Maia (Richie) Stroud, Jamila McMillan, Malika Graham, Shelina Moore, Shannon, Rodney, Breanna, DeAndre and DeVon Matthews. 22 Great-grandchildren and 6 Great-great-grandchildren,
Nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives and friends. Special friends of the family Raymond Jeter, Leroy Robinson, Mark Love, DeAngelo Graham, and Cheryl Evans.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm, on Friday, December 26, 2025, at the Zion Baptist Church, 630 Glenwood Avenue, Cincinnati (45229). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 1:00 pm. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.
She will be laid to rest at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232 on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 2:00 pm.
