Obituary

Gilbert Hines Gilbert Hines, 69, of Winchester, went to his heavenly home on Friday, June 21st at Reid Memorial Hospital in Richmond, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany Kentucky on July 23rd 1943, he was the son of Arthur and Gracie Hines. He attended school in Clinton County. He moved to Indiana at the age of 18, where he met and married the love of his life, Shirley Dobbs Hines. They were married on July 1st, 1966 and were blessed with two children whom Gilbert adored, Melissa and Matthew. Gilbert work at Brooks Foods in Mt Summit, Carlos Casket Factory, Lobdell-Emery Manufacturing Plant and he retired from Frank Miller Lumber Company in Union City, in May of 2011. An avid outdoorsman, Gilbert excelled at archery and trap shooting, competing nationally in trap shooting in the 1980's. He loved hunting and fishing with his son Matt. His health problems were numerous over the past few years, but he was always ready to get back to the next fishing pond. Whenever asked what he was fishing for, his response was always, "whatever will bite". Gilbert also loved putting out his big vegetable garden every spring with Shirley and picking that first ripe tomato. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Diane Whittenburg. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Shirley, daughter Melissa (Daniel) Thornburg, son Matthew (Nerrissa) Hines, and granddaughter Izzie Horn. Nieces and Nephews: Gretta (Doug) Bryant, Anitra (Manuel) Ostos, and Robert (Sue) Burton, several great nieces and nephews and his special adopted family was Jerry and Nicky Bosken, Ben and Emma.
