Gertrude Harris departed this life on Wednesday, August 28, 1996. She was born in Stonega, Virginia on November 13, 1935. She was the daughter of Elliott and Dora Weatherspoon, who preceded her in death. She was married to John M. Harris, June of 1964. She was the mother of one son, Jon Harris and one daughter, Chandra D. Weatherspoon. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, John M. Harris; her children, Jon Harris and Chandra D. Weatherspoon; six grandchildren, Jon Harris, II, Brandon Lampkin, Jon Harris, III, Jonise Harris, Ivy Charneski and William Weatherspoon; one brother, Johnny Weatherspoon; two sisters-in-law, Olla Mae Weathersppon and Betty Harris; one sister Thelma Jones; six brothers-in-law, Theodore Jones, Samuel, Clifford, James, Nathaniel, and King Harris; nieces, Valeria and Alicia Riley; nephews, Paul and Kevin Riley; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 3, 1996 with the Rev. Clifford Harris officiating and Michelle Johnson and Group providing the music. Interment followed at Crown Hill Memorial Gardens.
