IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gertrude
Bolden
May 20, 1934 – October 1, 2024
Gertrude Bolden was born in Maysville, KY on May 20, 1934, to Charles Matthew Ewing, Sr. and Viola Perry Ewing. She entered into eternal rest on October 1, 2024, at the age of 90.
Gertrude attended Maysville John G. Fee High School and she was the valedictorian of her graduating class. In 1956, she united in holy matrimony to the late Marvin K. Bolden and relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio; to this union, two daughters were born, Teresa and Anita Bolden. They were happily married for 46 years.
Gertrude attended Bethel Baptist Church and Oakley Baptist Church prior to joining New Life Temple Church in 1983. She attended all foundational training classes; Catechism I, II, III (now known as Solid Rock Training), Hearing the Master's Voice, Holy Spirit training class, Leadership Training classes I & II, and various other classes throughout the years. Gertrude became a Catechism Counselor in 1986 and taught various Sunday school classes. She also served as a Care Group Leader for many years. She was a faithful prayer intercessor and joined the Prayer Ministry in 1983. Gertrude was appointed as the Prayer Ministry Leader in 2007, where she continued to serve until her departure. As a prayer intercessor, she was faithful in praying for the vision the Lord gave to New Life Temple Church; she was a "watchman on the wall".
Isaiah 62:6-7 MSG …I've posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem. Day and night they keep at it, praying, calling out, reminding God to remember. They are to give Him no peace, until He does what He said,…
Gertrude was affectionately known as "MaMaw "and "Ma Gert" and was loved and cherished by so many. She was known for her unwavering faith and trust in God, as well as her generous spirit.
Gertrude enjoyed spending time with family and friends, relaxing with music, shopping, and reading the Bible. She especially enjoyed taking long drives, enjoying the scenery, and God's creation.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Viola Ewing; her husband Marvin K. Bolden; her sisters, Ella Cross, Anna Tinsley, Myrtle Bolden, Emma Boulden; two brothers, Charles Ewing, Jr. and George Ewing; and son-in-law Donald Clark.
Gertrude leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Teresa Bolden Clark and Anita Bolden; grandchildren, Gary Clark, Chelsea Clark, and Kimya Sims (Richard); five great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and all who had the privilege of meeting her.
