Obituary

Celebrating The Life of Gerald Anthony Copenhaver Gerald Anthony Copenhaver (The Cadillac Man) was born June 1, 1957 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Maloy and Marie Copenhaver. He was the third of four children, two brothers and one sister. Gerald met and fell in love with Patricia Shaw of Cincinnati, Ohio and the two were united in holy matrimony on September 20, 1989. Their union was blessed with two sons and two daughters. Gerald was a faithful and loving brother, husband, proud father, doting grandfather and great-grandfather. He was loved by many friends in the community, and held in high regard for his integrity, faithfulness and strength of character. He worked for General Motors for twenty-five years and is still remembered dearly by many he worked with. Gerald loved to fish and often bragged of his superior skills over everyone else. A family joke between the brothers was who could grill the best. Gerald always challenged his younger brother John swearing that he was the best. John and Gerald often joked that they needed to stand together opposing Mary and Maloy because when they were born, they along with their parents were the perfect nuclear family consisting of two parents, a boy and a girl all with names beginning "M". (Of course John and Gerald were always swiftly put in their place by their older siblings) Later in life, Gerald met Nadene Edmonds who he loved very much and they spent many happy years together. He spoke often of their love, how she took good care of him and that she could really cook. Gerald walked in faith and believed devoutly in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He often spoke of the goodness of the Lord and how grateful he was for all the Lord has done for him. He was often heard saying that he prayed every morning. Gerald was baptized and had a deep desire to one day be with the Lord. He departed this life on Sunday August 13, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maloy Gordon and Marie Addeline Copenhaver; and brother Lindon Gordon. Gerald is survived by: his sister Mary Copenhaver-Jones (Bill), two brothers, Maloy Copenhaver of Cincinnati, Ohio and John F. Copenhaver (Sheila) of Cincinnati, Ohio; four children, Antwain ( Monique ) Shaw of Galltain, Tennessee, Anthony Shaw of Covington, Kentucky, Patrice Shaw and Whitney Copenhaver of Cincinnati, Ohio: sixteen grandchildren, Lorenzo Shaw, Antwain Shaw, Mariah Shaw, Maranda Shaw, Maria Shaw, Miajuh Shaw, Anthony Shaw, Dontae Trammell, Tayshawnna Trammell, and Tashay Tremmel, great granddaughter Zoey White; close family and friends, Ernest and Sandy Shearer, Vernon Williams, Robert Turner and Family, Cecil Rahe, Steve and Robin Glover and a host of nieces and nephews. Jesus saith unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
