Obituary

George Washington Randolph, Sr. was born October 4, 1938 to parents Tanzy D. Randolph and Lona Mae Randolph (Nee Cox). He was an Amazing family man who loved his family dearly and was sure to call you and tell you every day if he could! Many of us will miss his early morning calls (beginning as early as 5am) and his additional 15 minute conversations after he had already said goodbye. He loved all sports, jazz, fishing, and his favorite R&B group the Whispers whose music he used to serenade his wife who he loved sincerely. He met Gloria, the love of his life, in 1976. He said he always knew she was a good woman and that he would spend the rest of his life with her. They were married on December 10,1990 and their love was evident to all who encountered them until his last breath. He graduated from Central High School and completed two years at the University of Cincinnati. He enlisted in the United States Navy in September 1955 and served two tours. He was a sub tender assigned to a nuclear submarine. He was stationed in Scotland the majority of his time. In 1963 he was honorably discharged as a Petty Officer Third Class (E4). After his time in the military he worked over 20 years at Ryerson Steel where he held many positions and retired with them in 1988. George was a man who was often opinionated and would tell you exactly what was on his mind. He never met a stranger and you couldn't take him anywhere without him knowing somebody or some of their "people". He was always so full of life and love and kept a smile on his face as well as everyone who was around him. He was a personal superman to some as you could call him for almost anything and he found a way to help you or he knew somebody to get it done. He lived a full life and made a true impact on his family and he let us know how proud he was of all of us. His love will live on through us and he will surely be missed. George was preceded in death by his parents Tanzy and Lona Randolph, his siblings Fanny May Smith, Theodus Randolph, Tanzy Randolph, Jr., Thomas Randolph, Betty Randolph, Lavonia Randolph, Juanita Randolph, Lenora Allen, Lona (Polly) Joiner, and Lois Sims, children JeMal Anderson and Portia Randolph, grandchildren Jarred Smith and Jaytwan Smith.
