George Jones, Jr., age 83, left this earth for his heavenly home on Thursday, August 29, 2013. Friends may call Thursday, September 5 from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service 7:00 p.m. at Greater Emanuel Apostolic Church, 1150 W. Galbraith Road, Cincinnati (45231). Interment Oak Hill Cemetery. George Jones, Jr. was born May 31, 1930 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late George Sr. and Mrs. Queenie Jones. Bro. Jones had 1 brother and 3 sisters who preceded him in death. Bro. Jones aka Pops was married to Sis. Ruby Jones for 46 years this past August 12, 2013. Pops was educated in the Alabama School district. He retired from Conrail Railroad where he was employed for 46 years. Pops always stated that his life began when he was baptized in Jesus' name on father's day, along with his wife, on June 20, 1976. Pops received the Holy Ghost on New Years Eve, December 31, 1984. Pops leaves to mourn: his wife, Sis. Ruby Jones who he loved dearly; one son, George III (Hermania) Jones; four daughters, Victoria Jones, Vanessa Avery, Barbara (Dea. Samuel) Wheeler and Min. Veronica (Dea. Jerome) Newkirk of Toledo, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, Tiffany, Trenay (Moses) Payne, Quincy, Tamica, Yolanda, Mickail, Sid, Stetson, Eddie Tubbs (Antoinette 'fiancee'), Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Jeffrey A. Tubbs, Dallas, Texas, Kelli Tubbs, Traci Wheeler and Raymond Kelley, Toledo, Ohio; 19 great-grandchildren, Devan, Eryk, Kyre, Kya, E'ali McDaniel, Leroy Williams, Jr., Le'Ayana Williams, Markese, Damonte', Forever, Faith, Ja'lyn, Eric, Erica, Ricky, Mansa, Sierra, Sydney, Aleiyah, Jaeivon, Brittney Tubbs, St. Louis, Missouri, Brooke Tubbs, Columbus, Ohio, Asia Tubbs, Dallas, Texas, Denziel Tubbs and Danyele Arrington; one great great grandson, Brayden, Columbus, Ohio; three God grandchildren, Lavaughn Neal, LaVelton, Jr. and LaVincent Daniel; a special friend, Mr. Cleo Collins, a host of other family, friends and neighbors and his Greater Emanuel family who he loved dearly. You could always hear Pops saying, 'I feel like going on'. He would often tell his wife, 'God won't put no more on you than you can bear'. We are going to miss him dearly.
