George  Hamm December 28, 1944 - June 28, 2023

George L. Hamm, affectionately known as Ted by his family, was born on December 28, 1944, to the late Arthur Hamm, Sr. and Walter Lee Downer Hamm in Elberton, Georgia. He departed this earthly life on June 28, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his son, George; siblings, Grace, Mary Lee, Sarah, Julia, Norman, Arthur, Jr., and Robert. George was also preceded in death by two very dear companions during his life, Gladys Pressley, and Regina.

George accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Elberton, Georgia. He attended the public schools of Elberton, Georgia. He was a graduate of the Class of 1963 of Blackwell Memorial High School.

George was a devoted and loving brother and uncle to nieces and nephews. He spent most of his life in Cincinnati, Ohio. George was always the life of the party. He loved cooking and playing old school music. Some of his favorite artists were Lou Rawls, James Brown, Junior Walker, Betty Wright, Gene Ammons, Charlie Parker, Bobby Blue Bland, and Lee Oscar. He loved the "Blues."

George worked on a resort as a chef in Key Largo, Florida. In Cincinnati, Ohio, George worked at the University of Cincinnati Hospital, formerly General Hospital.

George leaves to cherish his memories: his brother, Willie (Dell) Hamm of San Diego, California; Aunt Ruth Hamm of Elberton, Georgia; sister-in-Law Mary Hamm of Inkster, Michigan; friends, Jimmy Harvey, Thomas Rucker, and Steve Settler; the family of Gladys Pressley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation is from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, on  Sunday, July 30, 2023, at the Walker Funeral Home - Walnut Hills Chapel, 2625 Gilbert Avenue, Cincinnati  (45206).   Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m.
