Geneva Minnie Ricks-Barnes was born April 28, 1927 to bless the union of Noble Williams Casey Sr and Elizabeth B. Whittaker Casey in Lake Commorant, Mississippi. She departed this life on Saturday, November 20, 1993 in Boynton Beach, Florida. Geneva attended the public schools in Desota County, Mississippi (Hargrove School).
She worked for many years as a cook and was well known for her expertise in food preparation. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and united with the Morning Star Baptist Church.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mose Ricks who preceded her in death. To this union one son, James E. Ricks was born. The family resided in Cleveland, Ohio for a number of years. Upon moving to Cincinnati, Ohio she united with the Greater Liberty Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. Jerome M. Lewis Sr. She served faithfully until moving to Boynton Beach, Florida in September 1991. There she joined East Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Dr. James E. Ricks (Natalie Ricks) of Cape Girradeau; mother Elizabeth Casey of Cincinnati; brothers, Noble Jr., Jerome, Osie, Casey all of Cincinnati; sisters, Naomi Johnson, Clara Snow, Yvonne Todd, Alberta Foster.
Interment Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Ave., Cincinnati, OH on Saturday, November 27, 1993 at 10:30 a.m.
