IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary Paul
"Hawkman" Whitaker
June 30, 1946 – March 22, 2025
Gary Paul "Hawkman" Whitaker
1946 - 2025
Cincinnati, Ohio
Gary Paul "Hawkman" Whitaker, 78, passed away on March 22, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on June 30, 1946, in Cincinnati, he lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to his family and passions.
Gary was the beloved husband of Connie Whitaker (née Strittholt), the love of his life. He was a devoted father to his sons, Joseph Whitaker, John (Sheri) Whitaker, and Michael Whitaker. He cherished his granddaughter, Maria Chasteen. He is also survived by his brother Rex Whitaker and his sister Patricia (Fred) Napier. Gary was preceded in death by his beautiful daughter, Lisa Maria Chasteen, as well as his parents, Dorothy Whitaker (née Lyttle) and Edward Whitaker.
A proud veteran, Gary served in the Marine Corps as an engineer during the Vietnam War. His dedication to service reflected his strong character and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Gary found joy in the outdoors, whether fishing or golfing. One of his greatest pleasures was spending weekends in Kentucky with Connie, searching for wild hawks—a pastime that earned him the affectionate nickname "Hawkman." His quick-witted jokes brought laughter to all who knew him.
His love for Connie was evident in every gesture; he never let a day pass without telling her he loved her and never went a week without bringing her daisies—her favorite flowers. His kindness and devotion set an example for all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Gary's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May his legacy of love and laughter bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.
