Gary Gilbert, age 49, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon, Saturday, August 3 at First Baptist Church of Mt. Auburn, 146 Dorchester, 45219 with the visitation from 11:00 a.m until the hour of service. Gary Gilbert was born on June 8, 1964 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Russell Abernathy and the late Lorraine Anderson. He was the fifth born of six children. Gary was a well loved father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many. He had a heart of gold and would give you anything if you asked him for it. He had a smile that could light up any room as well as any heart. Gary attended Job Corp in Dayton, Ohio and he received his certificate for his trade in construction. He worked in construction with the Wilcox Family until he relocated to Schenectady, New York in 2005. Gary continued his career in construction until his untimely demise. He is preceded in death by his sister Darlene Gilbert; aunts Linda Brock, Lillie Mae Edwards, Huberta Wilcox; two nephews Curtis McCants and David Jennings. Gary leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Zena Gilbert; children, Tiffany Richardson (Jacob), Pierre Gilbert; stepchildren, Tyrondia and Ron; sisters, Donna Jean Gilbert, Gwen Gilbert, Annette Ferguson, Vickie Coston; uncle, Elmer Anderson (Jackie), uncle, Eddie Abernathy; grandchildren, Aries, Jayde, BJ, Cincere, Prince, Serenity, Pierre's daughter, Spheria and baby girl; nieces and nephews, Tilly, Tony, Tyneshia, Bobby, Lorraine, Christina, Shawn, LaShonda, Kareem, Lester, Jerome, Tiffney, Juanita. Gary also had a host of great nieces, and nephews as well as cousins and friends. Special brother since the age of 13 is Joseph Riley (Valarie) and Family, also Cynthia, Eddie, Anthony, Dimitirus, Terrill Ann, Ronald, Wilma, Vickie and family.
