IN LOVING MEMORY OF FRANCES ETHEL BELLE Frances Ethel Belle, age 84, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born January 3, 1931 in Greensboro, North Carolina to Frank and Rosetta Milling. She married Joe Belle on August 1, 1963. Frances Ethel Belle graduated from high school at the age of 16 and received a B.S. Degree in Business Education from North Carolina A and T University at the age of 20. She went on to receive a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University in Business Education and completed more than 30 semester hours of advanced study in Supervision and Curriculum toward certification for a Doctorate Degree. Frances began her teaching career at Bladfen County Training School in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. In 1957 she moved to New York and taught at Lincoln High School where she served as the Chair of the Business Department. In 1964 she moved to Cincinnati and taught in the Cincinnati Public School District at Withrow High School for over 35 years. After retiring, she re-entered the teaching profession as a substitute. She also taught at the Taft Adult High School and business and technical training at Cincinnati School of Court Reporting. In 1984 she worked at the U.S. Playing Card Company as a Consultant to provide retraining for employees upgrading their skills. Frances received numerous honors and awards throughout her teaching career from various organizations for her commitment, contributions, support and dedication to serving the students and the community. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Sorority, Incorporated, Sigma Omega Chapter, where she served as president from 1978 - 1979. She was also a member of several honor societies including the Cum Laude Society, Kappa Delta Pi, Delta Pi Epsilon, and Phi Lambda Theta. Fran or Ma Belle (as she was often called) spent a lifetime investing her energy in educating children. She believed that the teacher is the most powerful motivator In the classroom and could change students lives. She had a zest for achievement and integrity for scholastic excellence. She strongly believed all students could be successful. She was a 'pillar' of the community and will be missed by those who entered into her life. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Adolphus A. Milling and Samuel A. Milling. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Tonya L. (Anthony) Wade; five grandsons, Brandon (Brandy) Harris, Chad (Jacqueline) Harris, Treyvon Haris, Raziel Wade and Daniel (Corina) Wynn; one granddaughter, Amani Wade; four great grandchildren, Devaughjte, Dante, Brianna Harris and David Wynn, a host of other family members, students and friends. Visitation is from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, on Friday, September 18, 2015, at the Walker - Mt. Healthy Chapel , 7272 Hamilton Avenue , Cincinnati (45231).
