Francheska “Fran” Paula Sherman passed away peacefully after a very brief illness on March 13, 2026, at Hospice of Cincinnati. She resided in Trotwood, Ohio. She was born on October 4, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio, to Dorothy (nee Porter) Williams and Paul Moore, Sr., both of whom preceded her death. She attended Columbus Public Schools and graduated from Central High School, Class of 1966. Fran began her career at Ohio Bell Telephone Co. as a phone operator. She was committed to her job and was promoted to various management positions, which she held for many years while completing a degree in business from Franklin University. After 35+ years of service at the phone company, she retired in 1995 after surviving a fight with breast cancer. She was a Life Member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. After retiring, Fran started a second career as a school aide with Columbus Public Schools. She loved working with students with learning differences at Grant Hospital, completing many daily tasks to support the hospital staff. She retired a second time from CPS after 8 years of service.
Fran enjoyed spending time with her family, especially anytime she could hang out with her only daughter and granddaughter. Her favorite pastimes were shopping, a good cup of coffee, reading the newspaper every day, political activism, traveling, working in her yard and anytime she could get to a casino. She will be deeply missed, joyfully remembered, and forever celebrated by all who had the opportunity to cross her path in life.
Preceded in death by her grandparents, Theodore & Hattie Sherman; aunts, Gloria Lee, Geneva Snow and Ruby Smith; uncle, John E. Porter Jr.; cousin, Dwight Lee, and a best friend, Maggie Miller.
