Obituary

Flora Mae Dungy was born in Camden, Alabama, on October 25, 1942, to the late Luberta Gordon and Dandy Williams. Flora was the first of nine children. Flora was educated through high school and worked the cotton fields. Being the first child and born in 1942, her task was from sun up to sun down. The Love of God and His Glory filled her heart each and every morning, and she awakened with a beautiful smile that greeted all who crossed her path. Flora was joined in hold matrimony to Ernest Raymond (William) Dungy on April 22, 1960, where they remained sweethearts 'til death and now forevermore. Their marriage brought four children, Wonderlyn Jean House (aka Jeanie), Ernest W Dungy, Jr., Edwin W. Dungy, and Erwin W. Dungy. Flora and Ernest instilled the honor of God in their children with the highest of morals. Flora came to Cincinnati in 1962, where she was greeted by family with open arms and a loving sincere welcome we will never forget. She first worked at Big Louie's Restaurant where her love of God and his people shined through; quickly turning customers to friends. And when it was brought out by our cousin Jottie Gordon, she became night manager and loved feeding God's people for the last 25+ years. Flora owned her daycare business. She worked from home, her specialty was infant care in which she won awards from the state. To watch the care, joy, love and happiness she brought to countless families was amazing and vise versa. Although Flora's membership here at New Mission Missionary Baptist Church was brief due to illness, she had that wonderful gleam and zest about becoming a member of the church. On December 14, 2016, God summoned Flora home. She departed this life leaving not to morn but to cherish her loving memory: her husband, Ernest Dungy; daughter, Wonderlyn Jean House (aka Jeanie); 3 sons, Ernest (Barbara) Dungy Jr., Edwin (Gwen) Dungy, Erwin (Shannon) Dungy; grandchildren, Chandrea R Dungy, Terrell E. Dungy and Shannon D. Dungy; eight siblings, Navcy Davis, Dandy (Vivian) Williams, Lee Carl Fails, Irmide (Dempsey)Holland, Tommie (Maxine) Williams, Thersa Lewis, Dennis (Kathy) Fails, Edward (Juandolyn) Fails; as well as a host of special loving nieces and nephews, family and friends. Flora will be deeply missed. God thank you for the time we shared with our mother, her beauty and grace will live on forever in our hearts.
