Fannie Lee Smith (nee Dukes) was born on October 13, 1937 to the late Virgie and Percy Dukes in Greenwood, Mississippi.   She was the oldest of 3 girls and named after her grandmother, the late Fannie Jones.   She was preceded in death by her sisters, Queen Esther Townsend and Gertrude O'Neal; her daughter, Carolyn Smith Ballard;  her beloved Richard Hankerson, and her son in law, Alfonso McPherson Sr.  Fannie departed from this earthly life to join them on June 13, 2022.

Fannie moved to Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of nine.   She was educated in the Cincinnati Public School District.  Fannie united in marriage with Elmer Smith in 1959.  She was blessed with 4 children, Jacqueline, Carolyn, Jennifer, and Mark.  She also raised a 5th child, Adrienne.  Fannie was employed at M.E Heuck Company for many years.  She accepted Christ and was baptized at New Prospect in her earlier years.  Fannie restored her membership in 2000.

Fannie was the matriarch and rock of the family.   She was a very loving and caring person.  Maintaining connections with family and friends was extremely important to her.  Fannie was a truly a giver and would share what she had with others.  She was a natural caregiver and gave her all when caring for others through their illnesses. Fannie was a breast cancer survivor and displayed a tremendous amount of strength during that period of time in her life.   She enjoyed cooking, going to bingo, chatting with friends, and caring for her grand and great grandchildren throughout the years.

Fannie leaves to cherish her memory:  children, Jacqueline McPherson, Jennifer Williams (Johnny), and Mark Smith;  grandchildren: Gregory Smith (Linda), Antonio Smith, Isaiah Smith (Connie), Dawnelle Dukes, Christopher Smith (Haley), Ricardo Smith, Terrell Dukes, Ebony Bush, Lottie Bush, Wendell Johnson (Angelique) , Alfonso McPherson Jr, Michelle McPherson, Jenell McPherson, and Adrienne Jones; brother: Charlie Robb Jr;  28 great-grandchildren: Kayla, Deshaun, Jade,  Deazia, Bishop, Heaven, An'Tanai, An'Tania, Karalyn, Tameka,  Isaiah Jr., Iyanah, Ivan,  Avieonna, Isaac, Israel, Icona, Amaiah, Aayden, Lamarion, Danaisha, Keiron,  Crisani,  Mikell, Meilani, Malayah, Wendell Jr, Franklin, Jaylen and Ina;  6 Great Great Grand Children: Mateo, Isabella, RyAnn, MariAnn, KeriAnn, and Marcellus; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
