She changed residence and came to live with her father, Walter Gray in Glendale, a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1933. Eva Mae accepted Jesus Christ at an early age in Georgia and became a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Glendale in early 19334. Just recently, Sister McQueen was presented and honored with a 70 year certificate for continued church membership. Her illness prevented her form regular attendance but her heart was there. Eva was recognized and played an active role as a past member of the Davis Rickman Club, a National Negro Colored Women's Club for over 60 years and was also a past member of the Eastern Star, Price of the Valley for years. She was always available to assist the sick and shut in; when called upon. She worked at Drake Memorial County Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio until she sustained a permanent back injury on the job. At which time she really began to enjoy her life with the exception of back pains.
