Ms. Etta Mae Mimms, 79, of Mount Healthy, Cincinnati, Ohio, reached her heavenly rest on Saturday, August 15th, 2026. Born on the 17th of January, 1947, to Herman Watson Sr. (Deceased) and Asalee McMullen (Deceased). Etta was also the cherished sibling of three sisters (Gertrude Shank - Deceased, Phyliss Turner - Deceased, and Jackie Watson) and two brothers (Ralph Shank, Herman Watson Jr. - both Deceased). She graduated from Robert A. Taft Senior High School in 1965 and was inducted as a member of Future Teachers of America. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service and then the University of Cincinnati Hospital for over 30 years. She retired from the University of Cincinnati Hospital in 1999.

She was an inspiration to many. But to her three (3) children, she served as an early example of hard work, courage, and resilience. She always steadfastly urged them on with an unrelenting display of faith and persistence. She was a long-time member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her humor was infectious, and she loved her family. She was blessed with amazing lifelong friendships, filled with laughter and love. A believer in Jesus Christ, her faith in God was an inspiration and an awesome example. During her lifetime, through times both good and bad, Etta could often be found engaging God through prayer and devotional bible study.

Her family takes great comfort in knowing she is at peace, assuredly at home with the Lord. She leaves to cherish her memory: 1 son and his wife: James Donald Mimms, Jr. (Shelly); 2 daughters: Deborah Mimms, Jackie Mimms-Hurt (James Douglas Hurt deceased); 8 grandchildren - Mikia Hudsepth, Alexander Berry (Tonisha Berry), Jasmine Mimms, James Donald Grunert - Mimms, Jade Mimms, Jerica Hurt, Jordan Mimms, Jesse Mimms, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many, many dear friends.

She will be well remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm, on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 2835 Beekman Street, Cincinnati (45225). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 1:00 pm. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.

She will be laid to rest at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232.
