Ethel Pearl Johnson, age 84, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014, in North College Hill, Ohio. She was born April 17, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Funeral Services will be conducted at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 745 Ezzard Charles Drive, Cincinnati (45203) with visitation from 4:30 pm until 5:30 pm. Share special messages with the Johnson family at www.HerbWalker.com. Ethel Pearl Barber was born April 17, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Tommie Lee Barber and J.W. Jones. Ethel grew up in the West End and also lived in Covington, Kentucky as a young woman. She attended Bloom and Washburn schools. Adult life led Ethel Pearl to become a child care provider for many children over the years. She loved the babies, especially as one of the early teacher's in a child's life. She cared for neglected children and parents who were having difficulties caring for their children until the parents could get their life on the right path. Ethel Pearl was preceded in death by her mother, Tommie Lee Barber-Roddy; her father, J.W. Jones; her daughter, Debbra Roddy-Johnson, called home to heaven January 17, 2014; her sisters; Josephine Barber-Montgomery, Bessie Lee Roddy (journey to heaven – April 5, 2014), and Juanita Roddy-Cauthen; her brothers; Genesis Roddy Jr., Carl Edward Roddy and Charles Thomas Roddy. Ethel Pearl leaves to mourn, her children, Portia Roddy Brown Anthony–Edwards (Dennis), Terry Roddy West (LaRita), Stanley Frederick West (Jeneen), Keith Woodrow West, Tracy Novella Johnson and Lynn Rene' Johnson; all of Cincinnati, Ohio. Gerald Lamont West; of Covington, Kentucky. Ethel Pearl leaves to mourn her grandchildren, Anita Anthony, Bennie Anthony, Tommy Roddy, Joshua Johnson, Marla Roddy, Brandon Roddy, Blake Roddy, Stanley West, Jr., Stasia West, Chris West, Corey West, Keith West Jr., Derek West, and Gabriel Johnson. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and family friends; too many to name today, however, always in loving memory of Ethel Pearl Johnson.
