Obituary

Ethel May Harvey was born in Covington, Kentucky, on November 14, 1932, to the late Clinton and Coretta (Walls) Housworth. Preceding her in death were her dear husband of 51 years, Buford Harvey Jr.; her daughter, Gina Hogan; and nine siblings. As a young adult, she worked at Cincinnati Children's, Cincinnati Rain Wear, and Kathman Goodyear. Ethel later excelled as a homemaker, wife, and mother.

Ethel accepted Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church of Covington, Kentucky. In September 1967, she joined Rockdale Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Stanford Lee Vinson. Ethel loved her church family and was an active member until her health declined. While at home, she watched services online and closely monitored the business of the church.

Ethel was very proud of her children and family. She kept, showcased, and saved every accomplishment. Ethel put her family first and could always be counted on for support and guidance. She always had an encouraging word but would also let you know when you were out of order or gaining too much weight. Ethel adored playing Bible trivia, cards, and games. Although she had a sweet spirit, Ethel May played to win. She enjoyed decorating her home during the holidays and entertaining her family. Ethel was always meticulously dressed from head to toe.

Ethel leaves behind to cherish her memory: her beloved children, Lorraine Day (Kevin), Ellen Stollings (Michael), Sandra Harvey, and Buford Harvey III; and her bonus daughters, Margo Spence (Larry) and Jacqueline Fierro (Diane). She is survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins. She also leaves behind best friends of 60 years, Carrie Whittaker, Willa Russell, and Thelma Taylor; a special cousin, Carol Alexander (she never forgot); and Eloise Moore, a loving friend and neighbor who was always there for her. Additionally, she leaves numerous church sons, daughters, and bonus daughters and friends
