Mrs. Estella Johnson was born in Cincinnati, OH to Mr. and Mrs. James and Elizabeth Waters. Her mother and father preceded her in death. In her primary years, she attended Cincinnati Public Schools, and later went on to graduate. She was united in Holy Matrimony on September 5, 1959 for 44 years (new reunited) to the late Hugh B. Johnson. To this union they were blessed with three children. They were also united in her mother's home. She was employed at Holmes Hospital, where she was a dedicated employee for 35 years. She retired on August 1, 1995. At an early age, Estella professed her love for the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and she became a member of Bible Way Church in Evanston, under the leadership of Rev. Abraham Swanson, where she was a proud member. Estella Johnson served this world as a devoted wife and as a faithful servant to all until her health began to decline. She loved to travel, sit on the front porch for some good sunshine with a good breeze, cooking onions and potatoes, lamb chops and chicken feet. She will be remembered for the many principles and stood for but most of all the love she had in caring for her family and anyone who came to her doorstep!! We know she loved going to the beach and also dancing. One of her fondest memories as she aged, was dancing with Red. For the past year she was a resident at Indian Spring Nursing Home, where she continued to spread her love. She had a quiet, soft spoken spirit and a humble personality. Although she was a woman of few words, we'll all know her favorite word. This woman never told anyone's secrets. (I know she went with a lot). Her presence leaves an indelible mark and will be cherished in the lives of those who knew her. Estella Johnson quietly departed this life on March 8, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones, in the care of Indian Spring Nursing Home. She will truly be missed and maintains a special place in our hearts. She leaves to mourn, her children, Kenneth, Karen and Kevin Johnson; and Teresa Thompson; precious brother, Reginald Waters; one sister-in-law; five grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; five nieces and a host of cousins and friends.
