Essie Mae Doby Brown was born October 30, 1935 in Miles, Mississippi to Robert Lee and Annie Marie Viola Dorby, one of twenty-one children. She graduated from Taylor High School. she was baptized at the Ace of Queens Church in Yazoo City, MS in 1955. Essie leaves to cherish her memory: five brothers, Eli (Rosie) of Yazoo, Mississippi; Sidney of Leland, Mississippi; Jessie Lee (Willie Jewel) of Mt. Olive, Mississippi; Willie Lee (Grace) of Collins, Mississippi; and Jimmie Lee (Marie) of Cincinnati, Ohio; five sisters: Allie Mae Taylor of Cincinnati, Ohio; Bessie Christmas, Lula Easterling (Nathaniel), and Martha Blackwell (Claudell) all of Mt. Olive, Mississippi, and Mary Hubbard (Charles) of Magee, Mississippi; three children: Joe (Octavia), Renita, and Tony (Christa); six grandchildren: Jerome (Kim), Jay, Edward, Renita, Makiah, and Sarah; one great-grandson, Jerome Jr.; a plethora of nieces, nephews, other family and friends as well as a special friend, Bill White. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 18 at New Prospect Baptist Church, 1829 Elm Street, Cincinnati with the Rev. Damon Lynch, III officiating. Interment will follow at Baltimore Pike Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until hour of service. Arrangements entrusted to Walker Funeral Home.
