Ernestine Woods was born May 2, 1926 at General Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Ernest and Fidella Love. She departed this life on August 6, 2014 after a long struggle with several illnesses. She was strong. Ernestine attended Cutter High School in the West End. She had several jobs in which she worked very hard to provide for her family. Ernestine knew no strangers. She moved to the Fay Apartments in 1974, where she resided for 32 years. She became a mother and grandmother not only to her family but to the whole community. She raised children that weren't her own, and became a home provider, babysitter, support system and resource to anyone who was in need. This is how she got her special name (MEMA) with a genuine smile and large heart from her grandchildren. Ernestine had five children and is survived by four: Barbara (Cooler) Thompson, Joann Cooler, William Cooler, Lynn (Woods) Lummas, and Brenda Cooler (deceased). Ernestine had grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 15, 2014 at 11:00 am at Walker Funeral Home-Walnut Hills Chapel, 1013 E.
