Obituary

Ernestine Carr was born on December 7, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Olivia Porter and Pollard Carr, Sr. She attended Cincinnati Public Schools and received her high school diploma. Ernestine worked at Stoufffer's Restaurant for many years before transferring into her field of passion. She went on to receive her certification in nursing and worked many years at Deerpark Nursing Home. Upon injury on the job, Ernestine accepted an early retirement. She could be found in her garden nurturing her vegetables such as collad greens, peppers, and tomatoes. That love transferred to the kitchen where Ernestine was known for her delicious meals made from scratch. Ernestine accepted Christ early in life. She joined Jerriel Missionary Baptist Church during the 1970's. Though she was not attending church in her later years, Ernestine enjoyed listening to tapes and compact discs of Pastor Michael F. Mack. Ernestine was preceded in death by her daughter, Frances Carr; brother, Anthony "Tony" Carr. The memories of Ernestine will be forever cherished by her brothers and sisters, Pollard "Butch" Carr, Blanche Carr, Stacey Carr, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; Roderick Jackson, Jimmie (Amber) Carr, Willie Carr, Doris (Glenn) Thomas, Isabella Ryans, and Stacey Jackson, all of Greensboro, Alabama; her long-time companion, Johnny Lee Owens; her children, Anthony "Tony" Carr, Kimberly Carr, JoAnne Carr, and April (Tony) Jones; ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her Aunt Mary Davis Bryant of Greensboro, Alabama in addition to a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
