Ernest Caldwell was born on April 24, 1932 in Cynthiana, Kentucky to the union of Buford and Dora Mason Caldwell. On Saturday, March 20, 2004 at The Meadows Nursing Home, God called Ernest home to eternal rest. He grew up in Newport, Kentucky where he received his education in the city schools. On November 23, 1954, Ernest enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country faithfully during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on November 21, 1956. After his discharge from the Army, Ernest returned home where he met and married the former Willa Mae Norris. This union was blessed with three children, Ernestine, Robert, and Maria. Ernest loved the people of Newport. He worked long and hard by working with the Legal Society of the Bluegrass and Northern Community Action Commission. Ernest leaves not to mourn but to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Willa; children, Ernestine, Robert (Mary) and Maria; sisters, Polly R. Petty and Joan Hurry of Cincinnati, Ohio and Ethel Jewell of Covington, Kentucky; sister in law Yetta Petty wife of the late Eugene Petty; granddaughters, Alexis and Rolanda Maia; grandson, Kelvin Robert all of Cincinnati; great-grandson, Avantai Grazway.
