ERICK JEAN FREIHOFER, M.D. August 9, 1937 - February 9, 2017 Dr. Erick Jean Freihofer, 79, died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of 9 February 2017 in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Freihofer was born on August 9, 1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Dr. Fredrick and Martha Freihofer. He received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and joined the U.S. Army on September 14, 1964, as a general practitioner. He had an exceptional military career with service in Korea, Germany and the United States. In total, his career included 30 years of military service and 20 more as a licensed Dermatologist in Petersburg, Virginia. He was a joy to everyone he met and had an uncanny ability to make people laugh. His compassion, kindness and love for the Lord could be seen especially with his patients. He was known for his daily jokes and willingness to pray with his patients during visits. He is survived by his three children; daughter Michelle J. Belcher and son-in-law Robert C. Belcher with whom he resided, son Adam Daniel Freihofer, son Stephen Freihofer and daughter-in-law Virginia Freihofer, and his 3 grandchildren Michael Belcher, Christiana Belcher, and Chace Belcher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Arno Freihofer. Service with Full Military Honors will be held at Old Post Chapel, Fort Myer, Virginia on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery.
