Obituary

Erica Michelle Baker was born January 17,1974 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Joyce Elaine Baker and to the late Robert Lee Baker. At the tender age of five months, Erica was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia which she lived with for the rest of her life and passed on from in her home Tuesday, September 4, 2018.

In the very early months of Erica's life her mother nicknamed her "Yady," unable to pronounce Yady her cousins began calling her Lady, and thus Lady was born. The name Lady followed her into adulthood. As well as her bright spirit that could attract anyone. Erica never met a stranger.

Though she had a chronic illness Lady didn't allow it to slow her down from enjoying life. As a child she was always outdoors and making new friends. She had a gift of zeal, making anyone feel loved and wanted. Lady was known for her giving heart, big, sweet smile and contagious laugh. If she had it you did too.

June of 1993 Erica graduated top ten percent of her class from Aiken High School. She attended the University of Cincinnati for two years to pursue her nursing career. With her health declining she was unable to finish college and chose a path of education, teaching at Learning Steps Academy for three years then becoming an Instructors Assistant at Winton Montessori. Erica had a special love for children especially her Goddaughter Monae, they were fond of her warm spirit and loved the way she would spoil them with candy, soda, and toys. A year later Lady met her life partner Quinn Ranford. Out of the union they had two daughters of their own, Eenaja Quanae Baker-Ranford and Eenaya Lichelle Baker-Ranford her pride and joy were born. Erica enjoyed being a mother the most, she absolutely adored her children and would do anything for them.

During her lifetime she was a member of several church ministries and was an active member of: The Church of the Living God and Greater New Hope Baptist Church. In her later years, Lady converted her life to Christianity at Christ Image Church. She was very involved in praise and worship, easily moved by the spirit. She was one of the most welcoming people you would ever meet. She would later become a member of God's Vision Kingdom Ministries, where the rest of her family would become active servants and leaders within the ministry. She will truly be missed.
