IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eric Lee
Dunbar
April 3, 1954 – May 16, 2020
Our beloved Eric Lee Dunbar passed away due to natural causes on May 16, 2020. Our sweet family lost its biggest champion and best advocate. He graduated from Porter and Hughes High School. He attended Calvary Church at a young age. Eric was also a veteran of the United States Navy.
Eric is survived by his mother Mildred Elizabeth Dunbar, his wife, Helen Marie of 5 years, two sisters (Barbara Dunbar and Judith Maiden (Robert)).
He is also survived by his incredibly loving children: Erica Moore (Peaches), LaTasha Reed (Pumpkin), Larry Moore (Kenaz), Lavar Gannaway (Oonie), George Kelly (Jr.), Lakita Kelley (Jeep), Sharhonda Thomas (Boo) (husband Chris), and Elyse Dunbar (Baby Bear), 28 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
We are grateful to have him in whatever role he gave us: son, husband, father, brother uncle, grandfather, and friend. He took every role seriously. As a friend, you may have called him Spatz and even Tsunami. If you are a part of our family, you may have called him "Man," which he carried in highest regard through entirety.
It would be impossible for us to list the incredible things he has done and experienced and also commitments that he has made and kept. Eric had been an inventor with ideas patented, lover of philosophy, an incredible debater, etc. His best accomplishments are in the legacies left with so many people. Eric had an incredible talent of giving everyone what he needed either in words or action. He was inspiring to many and left each of us with some things completely different. If one was fortunate to have experienced his love, then he would know our beloved Eric loved "hard."
