Obituary

Mrs. Elsie Deloris Mangham, affectionately known as "First Lady" or "Sister Mangham," was born on June 8, 1938, in Princess Anne County, Virginia, to the late Johnnie C. Brockett Sr. and Beatrice L. Allen-Brockett. From an early age, she embraced a life of servant leadership, believing that the best way to lead was to serve.

Growing up, Elsie worked alongside her siblings on their family farm, instilling a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for family. As she stepped into adulthood, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she married her beloved husband, the late Bishop Michael J. Mangham. Together, they eventually settled in Cincinnati, Ohio, where they led Faith Unlimited Outreach and Development Ministries, touching countless lives through their faith and dedication.

Beyond her role as First Lady, Elsie was a devoted homemaker, mother, and grandmother, consistently placing her family at the center of her heart. She was known for her warmth, generosity, and infectious laughter that could brighten any room. Whether through her charitable work, words of encouragement, or simply sharing a smile, she had a heart for people and a gift for making others feel loved.

Elsie's legacy of love and service lives on through those she leaves behind: her sister, Shirley Gordon of Virginia Beach; her son, William Ray Lawrence Jr. (Lisa Lawrence), of Clarksville, TN; seven grandchildren: William Alexander (Latonya Alexander), Clarence Yelling (Amie Yelling), Cedric Ray Marks, Donovan Smith, William "Ray-Ray" Lawrence III, De'Marcus Banks, and Taylor Eylse Ray'Nae Lawrence; 25 great-grandchildren, and her great-furbaby, Choco "Chewy" Bell-Banks. She also held a special place in her heart for Stephanie Scott, Erica Harrison, and Stephen Scott, children of her devoted daughter-in-law, Lisa.

Additionally, Elsie was deeply loved by her church family and all those who worked alongside her. She was a guiding light, a source of unwavering faith, and a woman whose love knew no bounds.

On February 04, 2025, at the age of 86, Elsie peacefully transitioned into eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and compassion. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will live on in the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the faith she so beautifully embodied.
