Elizabeth Shanika Cardwell was born October 11, 1976 to Latania Jean Cardwell in Hamilton, Ohio. She departed this life July 25, 2018 at Kettering Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends.

Liz, as she was affectionately called, attended Hamilton City Schools, graduated from Hamilton High in 1995. She went to Urbana University where she majored in Sports Medicine. She dreamed of being a Sports Therapist. She was considered one of the best Point Guards. Yes, she loved the game, which afforded her a partial scholarship to Urbana in Ohio.

Liz accepted the Lord at a very young age and was baptized at Pilgrim Baptist, under the late Reverend Townsel.

Liz was preceded in death by her mother, Latania J. Cardwell, and her grandparents, Alvirtia Cardwell and Mr. and Mrs. George Glover.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Alfredis Cardwell, who stepped in when her mother passed; cousins/siblings, Dominec Cardwell, Latoya Sinclair, John Sinclair all of Hamilton, Ohio, Dionte (Che-ron) Mattison of Dayton, Ohio, Sharonda (David) Webster Arnold of North Carolina and Sherrom Webster of Cincinnati, Ohio; aunts, Diana Smiley and Carolyn Cardwell of Hamilton, Ohio, Jacqueline (William) Glover and Darenda Farrell of Dayton, Ohio; uncles, Charles Caldwell of Hamilton, Ohio, Gregory (Janet) Webster of Dayton, Ohio and Authur Lee (Rose Mary) Lovett of Bossier City, Louisiana; two very dear friends whom she enjoyed balling with, teammates until the end, Nikita Thompson and Tonisha Thompson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives.

Visitation is from 11:00 am until noon, on Friday, August 17, 2018, at the Princeton Pike Church of Christ, 412 South Front Street, Hamilton, Ohio 45011. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at noon. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, 1602 Greenwood, Hamilton, Ohio 45011.
