Obituary

Elijah was born December 3, 1944 to the late Norell Swift and Classy O'neal in Bullock County, Alabama. Elijah's paternal grandparents were the late Pastor Oliver and Rosie O'neal who led Elijah to Christ at an early age. Elijah was educated in the Macon County School System and played football at Tuskegee High where he later graduated from. After graduating, he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he met Ethel Lewis and they were married. This union brought one child (Elaine Phillips). After they were divorced, he met Lillian Robbins and they were married and divorced. After their divorce he met Beverly Lavender and they had two children. Elijah was employed at Siemens Company located in Norwood, Ohio and continued to work for forty-eight years. He had many hobbies including, fishing, hunting, and collecting/restoring old cars. He especially loved spending time with family and friends. Elijah leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Elaine O'neal –Phillips (Paul), Shana and Renee Lavender; one stepdaughter, Lawanda Robbins Brown (Tony); one stepson, Lee Larkins (Tamie). He has seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren. He leaves behind two brothers, Ernest Dean Swift, and Eddie Johnson. He was preceded by brothers Sydney O'neal, James Johnson Jr, and Arthor Patterson. Elijah also has eight sisters, Rosie O'neal, Wanda Johnson, Nettie Johnson, Brenda Jackson, Genoris Thomas and Linda Lynch. He was preceded by sisters, Jacqulyn Johnson and Essie Patterson. Elijah has two aunts, Idella McCall and Estell Swift; two uncles, Prince Pollard and David Swift; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Elijah Oneal, age 69, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014, in Sycamore Township, Ohio. He was born Sunday, December 3, 1944 in Tuskegee, Alabama. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church 9991 Wayne Avenue - Cincinnati, OH (45215) with visitation from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
