Elder Thomas
Chapman Sr.
October 26, 1925 – October 19, 2013
Elder Thomas Chapman was born on October 26, 1925 as one of nine children to Elliott and Armenta (Parrott) Chapman. He joined the United States Army immediately following high school and served two tours in World War II. On September 29, 1948, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Geneva Mae Washington and this union was blessed with nine children. He was baptized and received the gift of the Holy Ghost at an early age. Soon afterwards, he was called into ministry and began sharing the word of God under the anointing of the Holy Ghost. Because of his love for sharing God's word, he was known for running tent revivals and preaching the Gospel on street corners. He also served as an associate pastor of The Holy House of the Living God in Lincoln Heights for many years. Elder Chapman and his family joined Greater Emanuel Apostolic Temple, in 1977, under the pastoral care of the honorable Bishop Paul A. Bowers. While Elder Chapman established and briefly served as senior pastor of the Solid Foundation Church, he continued to be faithful to the GEAT family. He served as a member the Voices of Emanuel, Heritage Choir and Personal Evangelism as well as Sunday school teacher and bus driver; remaining faithful until his health no longer allowed him. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings as well as one granddaughter, Shaneva Napier and one great-grandson, Sherman Rayshawn Napier, Jr. Elder Chapman leaves behind to cherish his memories: his wife of 65 years, Geneva M.; his children, Thomas Jr. (Kathy) and Timothy J. (Terri) both of Cincinnati, OH, Rebecca A. (James) Hall of Springfield, IL, Ruth E. (Terry) Lewis of Dublin, NC, Titus (Laura) of Owensboro, KY, Ratchel G. (Sherman) Napier of Springfield, IL, Telem J. (Sharon) Chapman, Ramiah R. Chapman and Teman Chapman all of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, T'Kiesa Chapman, James Hall, Jr., Juante Hall, Reneva (Richard) Eubanks, Jaymeva (Marcus) Hawkins, Geneva (Leon) Pridgen, Frank Hall, Jr., Flone Hall, Genella (Shawn) Ringer, Jacob Chapman, Nicole Napier, S. Rayshawn Napier, Sr., Ryan Napier, Roderick Napier, Robert Napier, Telem Chapman, Jr., Brittany Chapman, Geniah Chapman, Sincere Chapman, and Nevaeh Chapman; 16 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and close friends. I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints" Psalms 116:12-15
