IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elbert M.
Williams, Jr.
January 24, 1954 – October 18, 2019
Elbert M. Williams, Jr., age 65, passed away on October 18, 2019 at Hospice of Cincinnati. He was the husband of Donna Williams. They shared twenty-six years of marriage together.
Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, he was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Williams, Sr. and Inetta Straughter, two sisters, Alice Marie Williams, Ida Mae McNeil and one brother, Danny Calvin Williams. He was baptized at the age of 12 and there began his focus on God and his encounter with ministry. He attended Rosa A. Temple High School and graduated in June, 1972. He later attended Alcorn State University where he played football, and upon graduation in May, 1976, began a career as a bricklayer. He eventually moved to Cincinnati, where he found himself working at the Procter and Gamble St. Bernard Plant as a Security Guard/EMT.
He was a member of Christ Emmanuel Christian Fellowship. His hobby was reading, and the word of God brought him so much joy to be able to spread it to everyone he encountered. He was truly a man of God, laboring through evangelism to win men and women to Christ.
To say that Elbert had a unique sense of humor is an understatement. He made friends with everyone he would meet. He had a wealth of knowledge and always made sure if you didn't understand something, he would break it down completely for you. He was loved by children and especially is nieces and nephews. He occasionally met with a few men from the Men's Ministry Group at Christ Emmanuel to go out to lunch or dinner. One of his favorite things to do. He also enjoyed going out to dinner with his nieces Debra and Yolanda and they would drive all thru Cincinnati looking at all the changes and reconstruction taking place.
He had a passion for reaching those men and women he encountered thru the Feeding Program he worked with Ostell and Phyllis Shippy. They traveled all across the United States preaching and teaching the word.
After a recent illness, he was transferred to Mercy West Rehab Facility, God used him in a very mighty way. Not only did he live and thrive at the facility, the Chaplain asked him to minister the word to those individuals who lived there as well. He loved to see their eyes light up from hearing the word that God placed on his heart to deliver to them. As we walked thru the halls, people would tell him how they looked forward to hearing him again and again. It was very humbling to him.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; stepson Charles Allen, Jr. (Melisha); stepdaugher Tamara Allen, sisters Shirley Ann Thomas (Odell) Inetta Renee Smith (Eugene) Carolyn Yolanda Williams (Larry) and brother Anthony Ray Williams (Kashaundra), along with a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
