Obituary

Edward Lee Patton Jr., affectionately known as Butch Patton, was born on January 18, 1954, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Edward Lee Patton Sr. and Willetta (Olverson) Zellars. He peacefully passed away on December 26, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loving family, and entered the presence of the Lord.

Butch was a hardworking man, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant of God. His love for the Lord was evident in his everyday walk, and giving God praise was simply who he was. He was well known for his joyful "Praise the Lord!" greeting; no matter who you were or where you met him, you were sure to receive it.

He attended and graduated from Lockland High School in 1971. From a young age, Butch had a vision of owning his own janitorial business, and he fulfilled that dream. He was dedicated to his work and left a remarkable impression on all his clients through his professionalism, integrity, and strong work ethic.

In 1993, Butch gave his life to the Lord. He faithfully served under the leadership of the late Pastor Houston Ray and later under Presiding Bishop Dr. Pamela Smith. He loved serving the Lord and was a devoted member of True Holiness COPA. His service to the church included the choir, the Deacon Board, the Usher Board, the Missionary Circle, and his Independent International Outreach Ministry, known as I Am My Brother's Keeper Outreach Ministries. Wherever there was a need, Butch was always willing to serve.

Butch was cherished for his kind heart, warm sense of humor, and the love he shared with everyone around him. He touched countless lives through his generosity, wisdom, and unwavering faith. He had a deep passion for music, dancing, and boxing, and he treasured every moment spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Butch never met a stranger and had a remarkable way of making everyone feel like the only person in the room. He poured wisdom and love into the lives of others, always leaving hearts full and spirits lifted. A giving, God-fearing man, he will be remembered for his compassion, his joy for life, and the profound impact he had on all who knew him. He will forever be missed.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Edward Lee Patton Sr. and Willetta (Olverson) Zellars; his grandson, Keshon Sanders; his sister, Vanessa Patton; and his beloved son, Shawntaze Reid.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Carolyn Patton; his children: Teinisha Lewis; Edward L. Jones (Butch) (Hadewych V. Jones); Melinda Mansfield; April Carlisle (Ismael Oumarou); Mary Patton; and Greg Patton; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of siblings, other relatives, and many friends whose lives he touched.
