Obituary

Edward (Eddie) Hackworth, 86, formerly of Logan, West Virginia, died January 14, 2022, in Springfield, Virginia. Eddie was born March 31, 1935, in Logan, to William and Bertha Hackworth. Eddie had worked in Logan at the Island Creek Stores, and was a teacher in Omar, West Virginia. While living in Logan, Eddie was the pianist for Peach Creek Methodist Church, and also served as the organist for the Episcopal Church in Logan.

Several years ago, Eddie relocated to the Arlington, Virginia area to work supporting U.S. Navy operations in the Washington, D.C. area. While living in Virginia, Eddie served as the organist for the Downtown Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia, and most recently, Eddie served as the organist for the Old Town Community Church in Alexandria.

Eddie was a talented musician who had a great love of music. Eddie not only used his musical talent as a part of worship, but he also played the piano and organ at many weddings, and entertained people with his musical talent any opportunity he had.

Eddie's parents and his two brothers, Sammy Hackworth, and Barney Hackworth preceded him in death.

He is survived by his two sisters, Judy Dunn, and Olivene Persons of Springfield, Virginia. Eddie treated everyone he met with kindness and love, and he never knew a stranger. Eddie had many wonderful friends and family members, he was so loved, and he will be greatly missed.

A graveside service is set for Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, West Virginia.
